Stop Using Today Or You will Regret Later.

by Mohammad Abid Asamadi 25 Mar 2023

The little moments of the week dedicated to taking care of your skin are some of the most satisfying and relaxing. From the feeling of slathering on a luxurious lotion post-shower to the refreshing sensation of using a favored face scrub or facial moisturizer, our skincare routine brings a boost of energy every time. As a small indulgence, it's something we cherish greatly.

Achieving a glowing, healthy complexion is no small feat, but it doesn't have to be complicated. If you're aiming for a more natural, cleaner skincare routine, this post will give you an intro to the ingredients to avoid and provide tips to ease the transition. Parabens, sulfates, artificial fragrances, and dyes are just some of the toxic ingredients to look out for.

These substances can be found in a variety of beauty products, even those marketed as ''natural''. They can contribute to skin irritations and sensitivities, so it's best to avoid them. The good news is that safer, natural options are becoming more accessible and easier to find. Researching ingredients on the web, talking to a skin professional, and reading labels can all inform your decisions

The Dangers Of Toxins In Skincare

From rashes to painful itching, the negative effects of toxins in skincare products are a real issue that many people face today. Hypersensitivity and allergic reactions are immediate risks associated with a variety of skincare ingredients, and a large portion of the population is potentially vulnerable. The long-term health implications can be even more serious, so it's important to be aware of the potential dangers.

Over time, certain toxic ingredients in cosmetics and skin care products can have serious health implications, including cancer, organ damage, and disruptions to the endocrine, nervous, and immune systems. To stay healthy and reap the benefits of skincare without risking your health, choose non-toxic options like ALZIBA CARES. This can help ensure you get the beauty and wellness benefits you want without any undesirable consequences.

The Reasons Behind the Use of Toxic Ingredients in Skin Care Products

Have you ever wondered why companies add potentially harmful chemicals and preservatives to their skincare products? It turns out there are several functional and marketing reasons that have kept these ingredients in widespread use. Preservatives are often added to skin care products to prevent microbial growth, which would otherwise be a common problem in products stored in warm, humid places. Some ingredients can also create a distinctive or vivid color in creams, lotions, and gels, making them more attractive to customers.

The Noxious Additives Found In Skincare

When it comes to taking care of our skin, the cosmetics we put on it can make all the difference. But did you know that some cosmetics contain low-cost ingredients that can potentially be hazardous to our health? Though the majority of ingredients are benign, there are certain additives that companies often include to make their products more efficient.

Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum jelly, more commonly referred to as mineral oil, is often used in lotions and skin care products as a moisturizing agent. But what exactly is it, and what are the benefits and risks? In its purest form, petroleum jelly is made up of hydrocarbons, which are largely colorless and odorless and are not considered harmful to human health. Meanwhile, in the United States, most petroleum jelly is not refined properly and can contain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, or PAHs, which can be potentially hazardous

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a group of more than 100 chemical compounds found in the environment and food. They are created from the burning of organic materials, such as coal, gas, diesel, and oil. Unfortunately, PAHs can have a variety of negative health effects. Some individual PAHs, as well as chemical mixtures that contain them, have been deemed human carcinogens by the Breast Cancer Prevention Partners. Further, certain PAHs have been identified as being skin irritants. Unfortunately, just being exposed over time to low levels of PAHs can be dangerous.

Silicones

From lotions to hair care products, silicones are a popular ingredient many of us encounter regularly. These rubber-like polymers are derived from silica and come in three different varieties: water-soluble, non-soluble, and evaporating. These different sorts of silicones form a thin waterproof coating around the hair, in turn helping keep it hydrated and better protected from heat damage. But while they may have their benefits, there are also drawbacks to consider when it comes to Silicones. For one, they can cause scalp irritation, clog up skin pores, and lead to blemishes and acne.

Oxybenzone

Oxybenzone is a mineral-based ingredient, most often found in sunscreens, that helps protect your skin against damaging UV rays. According to the National Library of Science, oxybenzone absorbs both UVB and UVA II rays, which excite and absorb the resulting energy. This absorbed energy emits radiation of a longer wavelength and helps to reduce skin penetration and therefore reduce the risk of DNA damage. In other words, oxybenzone works to shield your skin from UVB rays and UVA rays, leaving you better protected from the even more dangerous effects of sun exposure.

Recent studies have found that this chemical, used in sunscreens to protect your skin, may be doing far more harm than good. Oxybenzone is an endocrine-disrupting compound. This means that it interferes with your body’s hormones, skills scientists are still researching. Accordingly, Hawaii has taken steps to limit its use of sunscreen, because of its potential ill effects on its vibrant coral reefs, including bleaching.

Parabens

Parabens are a very common ingredient found in many cosmetic products today. They're added as a preservative, but what effect do they have on your health? We'll explain the impact of parabens on your health and why you should keep an eye out for them in your products.

Parabens act as preservatives in cosmetics, and they extend the shelf life of the product. However, they have also been identified as endocrine disruptors. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that can interfere with the body's endocrine system and cause developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune effects for both humans and wildlife, according to the National Institute of Health.

Formaldehyde

According to cancer.org, it is a colorless and strong-smelling gas often used in making building materials and household products. Unfortunately, this chemical can also be found in cosmetics and certain foods, where it serves as a preservative to prolong shelf life. While not every product contains formaldehyde, others may contain formaldehyde-releasing substances.

Commonly found in shampoos, soaps, and lotions, formaldehyde-releasing substances have been connected with potential health risks. Indeed, since formaldehyde is a known carcinogen, it can be dangerous and damaging if we don't take the necessary precautions when it comes to the personal care products we use.

In conclusion, we must stop using today's toxic ingredients in cosmetics and skin care products to protect our health in the long run. Doing research into safe and natural beauty products can pay off over time since taking care not to expose ourselves to toxic substances is the only way to ensure our safety. We must take responsibility for our health now before it's too late.
